Pricing and Cost
How do you calculate the cost of a move?
For local moves in the London area, we typically charge an hourly rate based on the number of movers and trucks required. Long-distance moves are usually priced based on a combination of factors and the distance of the move. Our estimates are transparent and break down all potential costs.
Are there any hidden fees or extra charges I should be aware of?
We believe in transparent pricing. Our quote will outline all known costs. However, additional charges may apply for things like specialty items such as; pianos, gym equipment and overly heavy items, or last-minute requests for packing services or supplies. We will always communicate any potential extra charges before proceeding.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept various forms of payment, including cash, e-transfer, cheque and major credit cards. We will confirm the payment method when you book your move and outline the payment process in your contract.
Before and During the Move
How far in advance should I book my move?
We recommend booking your move as soon as you have a confirmed date. For summer months, which are our busiest, we suggest booking at least 4-6 weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. For moves during the rest of the year, 2-3 weeks' notice is usually sufficient.
What items should I not pack?
For safety and liability reasons, we cannot transport certain items. This includes flammable or combustible materials (like gasoline, aerosol cans, and propane tanks), perishables, and hazardous materials. We also recommend that you personally transport valuable items like jewelry, important documents, and cash.
Do I need to empty my dresser drawers?
For most dressers and filing cabinets, we recommend emptying the drawers. This makes the furniture lighter and safer to move, and it prevents damage to the drawers or the items inside. If a dresser contains only clothing and is structurally sound, you may be able to leave the items in, but this should be discussed with our movers on-site.
Do you provide moving supplies and boxes?
Yes, we offer a wide range of competitively priced packing supplies, including boxes of various sizes, tape, and bubble wrap. We can also include the cost of supplies in your final estimate.
What happens if an item gets broken or damaged during the move?
While we take the utmost care with your belongings, accidents can happen. We have a clear and efficient process for handling damage claims. We will review your selected insurance coverage and work with you to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Logistics
Will you disassemble and reassemble my furniture?
Our standard service includes the basic disassembly and reassembly of furniture items such as beds, tables, and desks. This is included in our hourly rate. If you have complex or specialty furniture, please let us know during the estimation process.
Do you provide storage services?
We can provide information on trusted local storage facilities. We can also assist with moving your items into or out of a storage unit.
When will my belongings arrive?
For local moves, your belongings will be delivered on the same day as your move. For long-distance moves, we will provide you with an estimated delivery window based on the distance, route, and time of year. We will stay in contact with you to provide updates on the arrival of your shipment.
